Shamanic Drum Journeys

I hold a loving space for you to explore what you would like to and find your own answers and guidance using the ancient practice of Drum Journey work. The Drum Journey is held in the context of a consultation, giving you time to share your story and what you would like guidance with. I will ask questions to help you to get clear on how to use the experience to explore what you would like to.

There will be time within the session for you to integrate. This might be alone, or I can support you to interpret your experience for yourself. The level of talking offered is entirely up to you. You can come in silence and be drummed for if that is what you need.

I charge £40 per hour. Please contact me to book or to explore your needs in more depth.

Shamanic refers to the inner life and landscapes, the inner journeys that inform our outer lives. Shamanism exists in every culture and despite different environmental conditions the basics are the same. The drum has been used by all humans since the dawn of time. The simple, repetitive beat influences our brain rhythms and can grant us access to deep states of relaxation. We have the opportunity to view things from a different perspective from our habitual state which is often governed by conditioning. The monotonous drum beat slows our brain waves down, moving us from a normal state of consciousness into a deeper meditative state, or a deeper still hypnotic state. From these trance states, we can enter into non ordinary reality, enabling us to have visions and access to the archetypal field of information.

Some underlying principles......
In the Shamanic world view all of life is interconnected, with an essence that permeates everything. There are the seen and the unseen realms, the physical and the Spiritual world. These are two aspects of the one reality and what happens in each affects the other. Modern viewpoints can explain these ancient perspectives. Everything is made of a shared field of energy that was scientifically proven in the 20th century and is now identified by names that include “the field”, the quantum hologram and the divine matrix. Human DNA directly influences what happens in the field in a way that appears to defy the laws of time and space. Our thoughts and beliefs and the emotions that surround them, change our DNA and that affects what occurs in the field. The significance of this is that when we shift our beliefs about our bodies and our world, the field translates that change into the reality of our lives.
The following is an edited excerpt from the work of my teacher, Jane Hardwick Collings:

The Shamanic world view sees the earth as alive, and all beings, creatures, plants and matter as also alive, with a spirit, and forming part of a the whole, the “divine”, the “all that is”. The interconnectedness of everything is the basis of the “structure” and shows us both the opportunity and responsibility. Throughout and within the whole of existence and experience is a pattern and a weaving of the thread of the divine. The patterns that reveal themselves in our lives and our beingness can be seen in the patterns of nature, the cycles, the structures of life and are often reflections, mirror images of what is around us. The shamanic framework consists of three realms or worlds, the Upper, Middle and Lower.

The Lower realm is the place of animal spirits and helpers, spirit guides and guardians, power animals, the dead. It may also be called the underworld. Journeying to the Lower realm is done to find one's power animal, to recover lost power, and to find and retrieve parts and aspects of someone or ones self, for the purposes of “soul retrieval”.

The Middle realm is both the reality in which we live and the spiritual parallel to it. We can access other parts and places of our ordinary reality shamanically. We may do this to effect positive change in places that need that, to connect with the land or to investigate a situation in process. And we may access the magical spirit realm of the plants, creatures and minerals that also inhabit the middle realm as well as our inner Goddess and Inner Shaman.

The Upper realm is the place of archetypal knowledge and patterns, spirit guides, teachers, gods and goddesses, the matrix of possibilites, and unmanifest potential. Journeying to the Upper realm can be done to meet your Teachers and various archetypes, for the purpose of learning, clarification, inspiration and insight.

The three realms are linked together by a vertical axis, the “World Tree” and can easily be accessed using the image of a tree, branches, trunk and roots. We can see this image in ourselves, with the Upper realm above us, the Lower realm below us and our presence in the Middle realm.

The worlds or realms of the shaman are both actual and metaphoric and are accessible by everyone. We can journey to seek guidance from any of these realms to facilitate transformation in our lives.

For all our relations. Blessed be.
To be Human
is to become visible while carrying what is hidden as a gift to others.
What urgency calls you to your one love?
What shape awaits in the seed of you to grow and spread its branches against a future sky?
